The Epilepsy Alarm Bed Seizure Detection Medpage MP5 uses patented technology to provide bedtime convulsive seizure detection for all ages. This is a mobility aid that can make a big impact on someone's life.
This mobility aid uses a high specification microprocessor to analyse sleeping movements (including movements indicative of breathing). Any typical convulsive seizure activity detected by the advanced sensor is recognized by the system software resulting in an alarm.
For a person suffering epileptic fits, this practical and easy-to-use mobility aid is an essential part of their everyday living. If a seizure should occur while the person is sleeping, the sensor picks up on any unusual prolonged movements, such as the body stiffening then jerking. The monitor then transmits an alarm signal to the two carer pagers which come as part of the system.
If the patient calls out, or utters sounds preceding, or during a seizure, then a built in microphone, which is tuned in to detect human sounds, sends an alarm signal to the carers' pagers. The level of sound can be set by the carer.
The Epilepsy Alarm Bed Seizure Detection Medpage MP5 comes with a 3-year warranty and can record and store two different bed settings. This is useful when a person moves from one bed to another, or from one location to another. Each set- up configuration is shown by different coloured LED lights. Other information that can also be stored includes bed sensor and microphone sensitivity.
Manual adjustment of all settings can only be performed in set up mode, and therefore is tamper-proof.
The monitor is powered by a mains charger and has a 24-hour battery backup, in case of a power failure. The mattress sensor has a sensitivity control to enable adjustment for differing body weights and mattress types.
